Privacy policy

The short version

HotWaterLocal collects as little as possible. No accounts, no advertising trackers, no marketing cookies, and the rebate calculator runs entirely in your browser — your answers are never sent to us or stored.

What we do process

• Emails you send us (corrections, removals, listing submissions): we use your email address only to handle your request.
• Hosting logs: our host (Vercel) processes standard technical request data (such as IP address) to serve and secure the site.
• Anonymous analytics (only with your consent): we use cookie-less, privacy-friendly analytics (Vercel Analytics) to count page views. It does not identify you and sets no cookies — and it stays off until you accept it in the consent banner.

Cookies & consent

We set no advertising or tracking cookies. The only non-essential processing is our cookie-less analytics, and it does not run until you accept it. On your first visit a banner lets you Accept all, Reject non-essential, or choose per category, and you can change your choice at any time via Cookie preferences in the footer. Necessary functionality (serving and securing the site) is always on and involves no tracking.

Quote requests

If you use our "Get quotes" form, we collect the details you provide — your name, email, and (optionally) phone, location and notes about your project. We do this on the basis of your consent, to do one thing: match you with hot water heat pump installers in your area so they can contact you with quotes. We share those details only with relevant installers for that purpose, we never sell them, and you can ask us to delete them at any time by emailing hello@hotwaterlocal.com.

Business listings

Listings describe companies using information those companies publish on their own websites. If a listing includes information about you and you want it corrected or removed, email hello@hotwaterlocal.com — removals are actioned within one week.

Your rights & where you are

Wherever you live, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold by emailing hello@hotwaterlocal.com.

• Australia:we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you're unsatisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
• UK / EU / EEA: where the UK or EU GDPR applies, you also have rights to rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and can complain to your local data-protection authority (in the UK, the ICO at ico.org.uk).
• Rest of world: we extend the same access and deletion rights to everyone, regardless of location.

Our processors (such as Vercel) may store or process technical data outside your country, including in the US, under their own safeguards and privacy terms.
